Hello !

Maybe some you know Strange Ocean, a little game for iPhone. It was available on the AppStore during about 9 months, but I didn’t renew my developer licence.

I’m glad to announce you that the sources are now available on GitHub (under the Creative Commons licence : BY-NC-SA).

You want to know more ? Let’s visit the official web site of the projet : http://so.nextinow.com.

It’s cool. Why don’t you renew your developer license?

Simply because I don’t develop anymore for iOS. So I didn’t wanted to pay just for this game…

I thought when you put a game up it stays even if you don’t have an account. Did I read the documentation wrong?

Yes you did.

Apple even called me to advice me to renew my licence ;)

@Cohars: I’ll give it a download when I get home. As a beginner cocos2d dev I’ve no doubt I could learn something :)

@jaanicreations Yes I’m sure it can help beginners. However, be careful because there are some things which are not done in the good way.

@Jeff It’s a pleasure ;)

@Cohars: Receive a ‘no such file or directory error’ pointing at the following import:

#import </usr/include/objc/objc-class.h>

What’s the deal with this header?

@KevinFoster You’re welcome!

I receive a PM saying this :

it compiles with errors

no such file /usr/include/objc-class.h in sharekit/core/shk.m

First of all, I don’t have this problem, so I don’t know why you do. The problem comes from the ShareKit, and obviously, I didn’t write the ShareKit. But anyway, you can remove everything concerning the ShareKit and build the game properly, it’s not an important part of the project.

FYI

The easy fix for this is

Change the line

#import <objc/objc-class.h>

to:

#import </usr/include/objc/objc-class.h>

or:

#import <objc/runtime.h>

worked for me :)

Thanks again for the code. Very generous

You said – “Yes I’m sure it can help beginners. However, be careful because there are some things which are not done in the good way.”

It’s great you are humble but you created a game. Most people can’t even get that far. I looked at your code and sure there are things I would do different but in the end you have to pat yourself on the back for creating something. And I am sure people will learn from it.

What Tone said. I think it can be easy to get down on yourself and reflect poorly on what you have created, but he really is right. You’ve done far more with your time than many other people do. Pat yourself on the back and know that somewhere your code is going to be appreciated.

Bookmarked for reference, and shared with a few other developers on the team I work with. Looks like it’ll come in handy for some things (Even if I don’t know what “Things” those are yet haha)

Thanks much for helping out the community Cohars! Much appreciated!
