Hi guys,
Has anyone ever used "Makehuman" before to create 3d models? I'm interested in using 3d models for my characters on a top down tileMap and came across it:

Looks pretty incredible. I guess I'm going to look into trying to load a model into Cocos some how, but I have no idea where to start lol.
Looks like makehuman can save as a ".obj" file. If that's the case then it should be possible to use this to load it:

patrickC has already loaded 3d objects into cocos2d-iphone using an array of vertex info:

Alex Shen suggested that one could use the arrays of vertex-normal-color-texture data from the .obj files to make a "AtlasManager3D".
Making a very simple humanoid model (one that the iPhone can handle) isn't really that difficult using blender. There are ton's of 3 minute tutorials to do it.
I guess my main question is how easy it would be to use the wavefrontloader code get Cocos2d to import one of them .obj files. When I saw patrickC load his 3d buildings, it looked like he was using exactly what the wavefrontloader code generated.
Hey sunsu, in a vague way that code I posted could draw as much a complicated geometry as you wish.
You will need to construct an array with the vertices in the right order (winding), and then just draw it with triangle strips.
You'll also need to map uv coordinates if you want a texture applied.
If you google around a bit, you'll find Jeff Lamarche's blog with sample code to load obj files, and also this: http://bill.dudney.net/roller/objc/entry/wave_front_obj_textures_working
If you follow those tutorials and put the drawing routine in the draw() method of a cocos layer it should work fine.
If you plan on reducing the vertex count on high-poly models be aware that it doesn't always work too well.
Because you'll have to use low-poly models, every "vertex" is important, and perhaps it would be quicker to model from scratch.

I'm just starting to look into possible ways of adding 3d animated models within cocos2d.
I guess I can try the do it yourself route, and attempt to follow patrickC's link (& code from the other 3d thread), or try incorporate one of the open source 3d engines along with cocos2d, if thats possible.
Anyone had any luck with 3d in cocos2d?
