[Suggestion] Each User has 'Skill Points' or Similar

I think it would be great if the forum was updated so Users had a way of representing their skill.
Users would have 'Experience' or similar thing and when they answered the person who started the thread can tag the answer as 'Helpful' and 'Answered' and so on.... this would increase the Users 'Experience'.

I think this would help to identify the more experienced Users. :) It also gives people answering questions something of a rank or reputation for answering questions. :)

Any thoughts on this?

Probably I'll add the "forums" plugin. It will add" resolved" and other possible status to the threads.

Now the threads that belong to support forums can be: "resolved", "not resolved", "not a support question".

Generally any 'postcount' or 'experience' or similar system, while fun in theory, quickly devolves into E-Penis waving and stupidity. All in all history has proved that it never works out well.

@christophersisk, I think stackoverflow works pretty well as well as the credit system on the apple developer forum. If the users are serious, professional and moderation is tight, such system can work very well. If it's going to work here, you only know that if you try.

Regarding the forum, I'd like to see a post count and date registered next to each user name. Not for some kind of rank, but to know who's been here for a while and has been active or not.

@crmagicxxx: I don't like the colors either, but I'm not good at drawing images. I would prefer images that don't attire some much attention. If possible, could you draw better images ? Thanks.

It's not problem in their design only, but overall functionality (at least for me). For example:

- you have "resolved" icon, but users that asked question aren't able to confirm that, so you (or other moderators) have to browse all the day and mark those topics
- "resolved" topic remains open, so there are always people that start another questions there, and topic grows and grows and remains "solved"
- there are topics without icons (no support questions). When I browse the forum I tend to skip those topics as they seem "less important" compared to others with icons
- Overall look is very confusing to me, and it's harder now to distinguish "new" and "old" topics by eye, as bunch of icons pop instead

So, I don't think making new icons will solve what I see now :)

@crmagicxxx I agree. I've been holding off commenting here until I gave it a chance, but I don't see that it added anything other than clutter to the forums.

I really like how stackoverflow works.

I don't like the new forum icons, either. Unnecessary clutter, in my opinion. I don't like post-count or 'experience' rankings, either.

Stack overflow is great, though.

If the users can't close the questions as "resolved", then this plugin is not very useful. I though that the user who started the questions were able to close it.

For me it is not important to show ihow many answers / join date in every post. That info can be obtained by clicking on "Member".

One important plugin that is missing, is something like "I like this answer / this answer is useful". Apple Forums, StackOverflow, Reddit already have this functionality, and I think it will help a lot in finding useful answers.

Update:I've just tested it and the users who start the question can also close it. I've also made the icons smaller so that they don't clutter the interface so much.
If this feature doesn't work (users don't close answered questions) then I'll remove it. This feature will be in beta test for a few days.

Ok, the "resolved", "not resolved", "not support questions" feature doesn't seem to work since almost no-one is using it.
I'll remove it. I'll try to find a "I like this post" plugin.

resolved is really useful for me. It's easier for me to check whether the issue is resolved or not.

Maybe a plugin that pops up an alert if no tags are specified when creating a new topic would be useful and the following icon if anyone is redirected to the READ BEFORE POSTING topic.
