Hello.
I wondered how many Cocos2D users are UK based? And, how many people would be up for a meet up? I'm pretty sure I could get a venue sorted, somewhere with power, light, projection and a bar near by.
A fast, easy to use, free, and community supported 2D game engine
Hello.
I wondered how many Cocos2D users are UK based? And, how many people would be up for a meet up? I'm pretty sure I could get a venue sorted, somewhere with power, light, projection and a bar near by.
Hi just saw this post, I'm London based, wouldn't mind a cocos2d meet up!
Hello.
Groovy. :) I've got some work folk interested, so that makes 5 of us now. :) If we could get a few more Cocos2D regulars along I think it could be a giggle, and a good way to learn. As you can all guess form my posts, I'm very new to iPhone/Cocos2d/Obj-C but have a huge amount of game art experience so if anyone was interested in learning about 3D for games, I could bring that to the table.
I can get a space with power and projection, and possibly a bar.
Great, I'm a pure developer with lot of experience in Flash games and server side development, been doing stuff since I was young with my ZX Spectrum. Cos I love isometric, I have some experience on that field, I have done a few isometric engines before in Flash, and also I did my first iPhone isometric game engine from scratch on top of cocos2d framework, as by the time I did it, there was no cocos2d isometric tiling support yet.
It's time to raise some more troops. Who's up for it? Code and alcohol. :)
Of course this would be open for any age, so I guess it should start maybe mid-day and then the old fogies amongst us can stick around to empty the taps and talk bo11ox.
Oh, have another artist/coder and an incredible illustrator interested now too. So that makes 7.
I see you started this post a month ago, I am sure there is lot of Londoners (or UK close enough to pop in), but the problem posting in the Cafe forum is that it tends to fall into the dark pretty fast, I just saw it today by chance!
Well, let's try to keep it on the front page :)
Anyone else up for coming?
I'm Manchester based, that's sort of UK ;)
Sweet, come along. I'd offer to put people up, but my flat is smaller than my shoe. But I have a double inflatable. No pump though. :)
Hey, I know cocos2d for a bit of time and started to use it again recently...
Just registered so I could post in this thread!
I'd be up for it and to get to know more people interested in iPhone development/cocos2d...
Groovy. It's starts to build... :) Welcome to the club diego.
I'm waiting for some work colleagues to post on here without realising I'm among them. ;)
anything new around here?
I'd love to if it was a bit closer. (Shrewsbury....) :/
I used to live in Shrewsbury :) About 10 years ago, worked at the model shop for a bit if you remember that :)
I'm looking into places to host an event, but really until we get a few more people willing to join up I reckon we should limit ourselves to a friendly bar with wifi. If anyone has any suggestions throw them up here.
Update: we could even try an IRC arranged time meet, an online meet to talk about a specific subject. My vote is game structure for level based games.
I like the idea of Online meet. :)
I'll start looking into system that let us do it, with shared screens and whatnot.
That would be great! wouldn't be so good just having a big chat room..... would you do voice or just type chat? Be good if we could do voice ;)
This would be great! Talking to pros....
I'm looking for something to allow that, haven't found anything that doesn't cost a lot. But it would be good if one person could screen cast, and we could have a Q&A.
Sounds good. :)
Lancashire
I have a few more non forum people interested in this. I'm still looking for an online place where we can hold it. Of course we also need a key speaker or speakers, anyone up for a little bit of knowledge sharing?
Im in for the knowledge 'receiving' part. As I haven't really even started a project in cocos2d (still boring through those 2 x 300 page coding books... ) I want to listen in though to see what I can pick up. :) If you find a server or something with limited users I'll step out of the way. :)
Nah, all will be welcome. This could be something good.
any luck finding anything so far?
I just thought of iChat, it's supposed to be able to do webcam, sound and screen sharing, isn't it?
Assuming we're all on macs here...
Ahh, of course. I wonder how many people can hook up at the same time without it killing the speed? We should arrange a trial. Who wants to try it out with me? I need 10+ people, we should all wear masks.
I should be available in an hour or so. ;)
I'll try rounding up some people on the IRC channel.
So is this open to all cocos2d users now? Not just London? I'd be interested in doing it if it's on iChat.
