Our third game is out. This one's a Word puzzle similar to Mastermind where you have to guess a 5 letter word by eliminating letters. Comes with a decent tutorial, a built in dictionary which you can deactivate, 4 different skins and stats include your favourite words. Built with Cocos-2D of course!

Very nifty game. My wife loves it. I tend to suck at word games. :) But I do like it.

The one thing is it's always a 5 letter word. It would be nice if there was some variety, or even if there were other size words that people could go for. Maybe even a timed mode or something, for those that are really good (like my wife).

Very cool concept, and it's very well done. It plays very smooth, and I like the highlighting of the letters, it's a really nice touch.

Thanks guys. I've had a few bug reports, and have submitted an update. I also removed the obscure words from the answers, because people didn't like trying to find anagrams of words they'd never heard of!

Ok, so I tried to play your game.
I have a first gen iPod Touch. I touch the icon, game looks like it's going to start..then shuts off and I'm back at the home screen.

Basically, your game does not work at all on my 1st gen iPod Touch.

Hi AcesWild

In Organizer (xCode), if you plug in your device, there's a Device Logs tab, with a list of all the crashes you've had. If you click on The Word, it will show the log. Could you copy and paste it here, or email it to andrewe@tbd.co.nz?

I'm having an error on this app in the App store. It crashes with (SIGILL) 0xe92d0500 on iPhone 3g or iPod Touches gen 1 and 2, but works fine on the iPad or iPhone 3GS/4. Using Cocos2D version 0x00009902 on xCode 3.2.3, SDK 4.0 (8A306).

It compiles and runs fine in debug mode on any device. It's just the distribution mode one in the App store which crashes. I can't replicate it on any of my devices, and I can't symbolicate the crash logs for some reason. I made a couple of changes and resubmitted it, thinking the initial one was corrupted but still get the same error.

Anybody got any ideas? Does SDK 4 compile incorrectly for ARMv6?

Any help would be massively appreciated! I'm at a loss, and a major problem with this problem is that I have no way to see if it's fixed without resubmitting and waiting for the review to finish :(

Did you see this post? I'm not sure if it's related to your issue, but just in case it helps..
Crashing with release, not with debug @ SDK 4.0
Particularly @riq 's statement, yes, SDK 4.0 inverted the meaning of "standard" vs "optimized" binary.
