My poor MBP is usually purring away quite loudly all day and night long! Fans go into overdrive when running the simulator.
Just make sure you do very regular backups, as it can't be good for the hard drive (I've already had one die on me, and replaced under waranty).

PhilM - I had that - but there was a firmware update with the description that said it fixed a problem with excessive fan use. Have you brought your system up-to-date in "Software Update"? It made a big difference for me - the fans dont kick in nearly as much as they used to.

@Codemattic, yea I'm pretty sure I did that update a month or so ago? Noticed slightly less fan usage & heat I think.
Half of the issues probably my fault, as I don't reboot for days or longer, and usually have between 20-50 firefox tabs open whilst developing, and various programs like photoshop, flash etc all running. So running the simulator on top of that, seems to push my mbp into overdrive :-/
Its not much of an issue, unless I'm trying to fix/tweak something that makes me 'build & go' multiple times in the space of a few mins.

NoScript has saved me on that one. Firefox used to grind my machine to a halt. I have Firefox/NoScript open with 50+ tabs. And I have Safari open with no tabs. If there is a page that I need to see something in Flash or Javascript animation I open it in Safari, watch or use it, and then close it. But yeah, I know what you mean, I have waaay to many things open at once also.
ooo, good tip, I'll have to try that out shortly! Sounds like a very good plan.
I really should get into a better habit and just bookmark the useful sites as I find them, instead of getting a collection of them built up over days, and then have to spend ages going through them and saving all the links when I want to reboot. Tabbed browsing is a blessing, and a curse at the same time....
