Project name:
Doodle Turret (temporary name)
Brief description:
Enemy attack from top of the screen as you shoot down from bottom, but there is a secondary portion to each level I won't describe here but will once we work things out as I feel it is to original an idea currently.
Target aim:
The game will be released commercially on the iPhone/iPad app store in an estimated 2-5 months time (depending on development/art completion speed). I already have the requirements for this in place, such as an iPhone developer license.
Compensation:
The artist will receive 20% of revenue from selling the game on the app store (that is 20% of the 70 cents on the dollar I make before taxes, so 0.14 cents on the dollar for each sold, price not determined yet), I regret that I can't offer payment up front. I can certainly put this arrangement in writing. To be honest this is a gamble for the artist, you may earn tens of thousands of pounds or next to nothing, depending on whether the game takes off. One major benefit is you'll be able to show your art has been used in a commercially released game.
Talent needed:
I require one 2D digital artist. One skill that the artist will need is the ability to draw animations by producing a sequence of images with small changes between them. Another potential challenge will be working with fairly small pixel sizes (due to the iPhone's screen dimensions).
No experience is necessary, but if you have any sample work I can look at it will be a bonus.I am currently thinking of doing doodle art style but may change mind depending on the strong point of artist, we shall see. If you don't have any previous work I might get you to do a rough sketch of something that will be in the game so I can determine whether your art style is a good match for this project.
I require somebody with a reasonable amount of free time to devote to this project, and this will be for every art aspect of the game, (player, enemies, backgrounds, menus, etc.). As such please only apply if you're serious about getting a project finished within a reasonable timescale.
This will also be on iPad and iPhone so will need images for both (and should be same and will probably just use half iPad size image for iPhone)
Team structure:
You - artist
Joseph Neuman (me) - Design, programming, anything else
This project should only require 2 team members. (may bring in a buddy for sound as I am no good at that either)
Website:
The project doesn't have a dedicated website at the moment, I may get one built prior to release. Hopefully once the game art is complete the artist might be willing to assist with some additional art/backgrounds etc. for the website or modifications of the game art we can use for this.
Contacts:
Please email me at JNDevSupprt@IGNORE_THISgmail.com (obviously take out the IGNORE_THIS which I've added to discourage spam bots from harvesting my address) or can send me a PM if you're interested. I can then send you some further details on the project.
Previous Work by Me:
My previous game, When Balls Drop, was just something I worked on to get myself familiar with the game engine. I plan on making this game to be much more.
I've already written a lot of the underlying engine code for the main gameplay elements that will be used in the game, such as sprite loading/animation, bitmap fonts and a flexible particle system, and have a few test projects using these running on my iPhone.
Additional Info:
I have more information on how the game will play and the twists that will actually make it fun which I can send to anyone who's seriously interested and contacts me.
Feedback:
Any feedback is welcome.
