let's see.
try adding the thread as "favorites".
you should receive an email every time a new post is addedPosted 2 years ago # -
testing testing testing email notifications

you should do 2 things:
- mark the thread as favourite
- in your profile you should check "active send email when a new post is in a favorite thread"Posted 2 years ago # -
Well, that's a good feature as well, but I was thinking something like the one currently active: All threads go to my email account and I can just hit reply, etc.
PS: I'm hating the captcha :)

this forum supports remote posting with XMLRPC, but I have not tried it yet

Yep, the captcha sucks :)

Great.
How are you doing in the upper the Blog Forum & Search menu?
I'm searching in bbPress and don't find how to set this

Hi,
I have a WP site & bbpress and i can go to the Forums
But from the forums, I don't know how to add the upper menu like you have

Do you edited by hand the html files?
Posted 2 years ago # -
yes, by hand, and it depends on the template
Posted 2 years ago # -
Ah ok.
The forum is looking very good.

The forum design is very clean and spare. I like it.
I think the frustrating thing about Google was the mystery of it all. I saw in the Google forums Riq and others posting about how they and their users were locked out - I never saw a Google moderator respond in any way.

As I said I really like the new design. And I also like that its controlled directly by Riq instead of by a third unaccountable party. I read the list through my browser on my laptop - this works well for me. However I know that some people here use email or use iPhone mobile Safari, I hope we can somehow work with them to make this as accessible for them so we dont lose their input. Maybe they can use the rss feeds?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Yes, the rss feed is a good alternative to replace the email.
bbPress supports remote posting by using XML-RPC but I don't know how to use it.Posted 2 years ago # -
Agreed with Codemattic that I like that its controlled fully by riq
I setup a forum with bbPress for me and there is a bunch of plugins that needs to be added for having a tipical forum like configuration.
I added this plugins
Akismet
Bozo Users
BBcode Lite
Allow Images 0.7 (don't know in hell where I can dl 0.8)
bbRatings
BBCode Buttons Toolbar
bbPress Smilies
bbPress Signatures
Hidden Forums
Unread posts
bb Topic Views

QuoteAnd I still don't have all the funcionality that a regular forum software (like vBulletin or PHPBB gives me). I'm thinking in giving up with bbPress and move to PHPBB
Anyhow riq, look at the plugins that ck did, they seemed very fine,
Posted 2 years ago # -
yes, I saw the plugins.
Personally I prefer "light" forums. And if a need a particular feature, I like the possibility to added in a plugin.
For example, I think bbCode is not important in this kind of forum.
phpBB and vBulleting are a bit "heavy" for my taste.punBB (http://punbb.informer.com/) is another "light" alternative.

love the forums, with the minimal design etc.
A way to get all posts (not just favorites) sent to your email would be sweet.
Although maybe its time I just looked into a good rss reader instead. Any recommendations on good rss clients for the mac & the iphone?
Phil.

I'm using google reader, but safari is a good rss reader too.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Also, Apple's Mail application has an RSS feeder. If you use for your email, I would recommend it.

Thanks riq, will give those a look, see what works best for me.

RSS is not publishing thread responses... is that a setting that can be turned on?
Posted 2 years ago # -
yes it is.
I can see your post here:

Thanks. It seems I was subscribing only the forum threads somehow, not the replies... :S All cool now. Tkx!

Well.
I don't like too much this forum, it lacks many useful things.
One thing you can put is mark all forums read, this is a pluging that can be added here.
