We at Get Set Games are super-stoked about the release of our new game, Mega Jump!
Mega Jump is a jumping game of epic proportions. In it you play the role of an adorable monster with sky-high ambitions. Collect coins to ascend through a jungle, past tree tops, ruins, over the horizon and into the furthest reaches of space. Tons of powerups, enemies and obstacles make the game an insane arcade experience.
Like all of our games so far, we used cocos2d as the engine. It has never let us down. One of the big challenges with this game was the massive backgrounds that we have. There are dozens of hand-painted backgrounds stitched together in tile sprites to give a feeling of an massive journey from the surface of the earth to deep space (and beyond). Balancing out memory usage while maintaining performance was a constant cocnern, but we think we nailed it.
