Zwopple,
Thanks for the update, good to know. Just an FYI, I know it is a fairly straightforward to use and I it is in incredibly useful, but I had a suggestion (or three) about it. Feel free to discard of course:
1) When I was first trying to use zwoptex I had no idea what exactly it did. I would google it and I would either find posts about people using it or the link to the app itself. I just thought it might be helpful for complete newbie to have a short blurb about what it is and what it does either on it's page (in the right margin) or a link t a page that provides that basic info. The link regarding the algorithm gives some clue and it's simple menu system do as well, but I just thought that little first step could be made alot easier with some easily locatable description (or short tutorial, though that might be overkill). Perhaps that info is already out there somewhere, but I never found it. Granted, using it for a little while makes it clear of it's use, but a short description might draw more people to give it a try. It is really quite a great utility! (Also, a link to the blog in the right margin would be useful as well as it would likely draw user to read and comment regarding the blog posts.)
2) The second thing is a feature request ;-) I have noticed that when I sort by name&hieght or name&width I can never seem to get all my sprites animations consistently near each other. I have them all named like <Character Name>_NN.png (all exact same size with trimming off) and no matter how I sort them some will just be out of order (name-wise). Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I just thought it would be handy to have the ability to sort strictly by name so all sprites are on a sheet are grouped together. Granted, this is mainly for reference so I can see if I am missing an animation frame...just a more-human readable version for quick reference. Also, since artwork is generally made in spritesheet format and then sliced and re-integrated into zwoptex, having this feature makes it easy to see if the zwoptex matches the latest iteration of the artwork.
3) This is a (really) minor convience request. Almost everytime I save a zwoptex project I am saving the texture, the plist and the project. A save/export-all (type) feature would be a nice enhancement since I would think most people keep all three in the same directory anyways. Like I said, not a big deal, but perhaps something to consider.
Anyway, these are just my thought and are just one persons opinion, so feel free to ignore. In any case, this is a fantastic tool and thank you very much for making it available for people to use.
Best Regards,
Q
