Hello,

I am having a bit of a problem with the Z orders. I hav searched with fourum and web but have not found much. Sorry about this being a noob question.

I know Z orders are how objects are layered, and that 0 is put it on top. But does a lower number (except 0) mean higher on the stack, or does it mean lower?

0 is not necessarily the top.. The z is basically the rendering order.. And it renders the sprites with the lowest z first and works itself up.. So if a sprite had a z of 5 it would be on top of a sprite that had a z of 0.

Thank you, so if you do not supply a z value then it goes to the bottom. Does that mean that if you have objects on Z 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and you then add something on Z 1, will 2, 3, 4 and 5 be incremented by one.

Z can also be negative, right?

Yes z is really a rendering order(keep in mind that it renders the objects with the least z value first)... If you don't assign a z then it is rendered in the order that it is arranged in the code
