But i think ultimately you need a mac to compile and submit it.Posted 1 year ago # -
ok thanks and one last question: the visual studio used to create video games for blackberry?

Hey,
For BlackBerry, you usually code with Eclipse or JDE (RIM's own IDE). I don't think you can use visual studio.
Shameless plug, I just released my first BB game (a port):

Congrats ob1, Im not ready for BB dev - but I would love to hear about the process and how you think the two stores/environments/markets compare.
Also, can you use NetBeans for dev? Im a little more familiar with that.

Hey Codemattic,
In a few words, the dev tools (apart from Eclipse) are totally awful and buggy. The simulators crash more often than not.
The documentation is barely usable, same for the few samples.
The device are so slow that it took me 2 rewrites to obtain decent speed (the iPhone version of Bix wasn't even optimised at all).
And the sales are lower than your worse iPhone nightmare at the moment :-D
It seems you can use Netbeans, but I don't know much about that.

Netbeans is pretty cool for application development, but forgetaboutit for anything related to games.

Based on ob1's last post, I can't wait to start blackberry development!
;)
For OP, maybe check out Unity3D (http://unity3d.com/)... You can learn it for free, and then buy the iPhone version if you think it'll work for you.

Oh, but I actually do love Eclipse though. I wish we could use that for iPhone dev instead of Xcode. Ah well.
