I had an update approved by Apple 2 days ago, but I didn't saw the app in the new apps section of the store. Is it a normal behaviour ? Has it already happened to some of you ?
Do updates show up in the list of new apps ?

Did you change the release date in iTunes connect when your update was approved ?

No I didn't, should I?

Absolutely. There's a big bug with the release date. When your app/update is approved, the release date is set to the date you submitted the app/update. This means, when your app/update goes live on the App Store, it's WAY down the list.
Here's the thing : as soon as you receive the approval mail from Apple, go to "Manage your applications" in iTunes Connect and set the release date of your app to the current date. Be aware that the date must be GMT -9 (Cupertino's time). For example, if you receive the mail on Saturday at 2 AM, you have to set it to the day before (Friday) because it's still Friday in the US.

Ive seen a lot of posts about this, so its clearly something that many devs do, for ex:

So now it's too late I guess for this update.

how long did it take to get the update approved?

Maybe not. You can always try and change the release date in iTC. If you're not allowed to do it, the date will be back to what it was when you press the Save button. So you don't risk anything trying.

Well, I am not sure about that. For example if you change the date of your existing AppStore application to i.e. 3 days from now, your app will disappear from AppStore until that day. And then it'll show under original date, not under new one. So, basically, the safest is to change the date on the day it was approved.

Sorry if I've been unclear, I meant "You can always try and change the release date to today's date in iTC" not "set it to xx days from now".
A couple of months ago, when one of my app was first approved, I tried to set the release date to the day after the current date. And when I clicked the Save button, I got the green message "Your changes have been saved" but the release date in the comboboxes kept indicating the submission date. That's why I said it was not risky.
Anyway, I agree with the safest being to set the release date to the approval date. But since jptsetung missed the d-day, he could try what I said.

Hi,
does someone know if this bug still exists?
I wonder why apple would not fix such an obvious bug.

I think you have to manually adjust the date to the date your app is approved.
