It's interesting that most people miss it. I'll have to make it more prominent in the update. Thanks for the feedback!

Keep forgetting to post this:

My kids (ages 6 and 5) are digging Doodle Blast. I suppose I'm a negligent parent for letting them play a game rated 9+, but it keeps them quiet.

Hahaha! That's awesome! Thanks for posting this picture - it totally made my day :)

Geez, at least my kid is 6 1/2. Some people :p

Doodle Blast! makes the New and Noteworthy list and hits top 100 in the US (just barely, but who cares!)

Thanks for all the support, folks!

Finally! I was wondering when that was going to happen. Great game and I love your post-mortem!

Thanks, tbone! I look forward to reading about your adventures with physics :)

This week is really a cocos2d crowd on the new and noteworthy :)
Congrats! Following you on the blogspot - thanks for sharing!

The picture with your kids feels familiar. My big one is 4 and knows how to play ZombieSmash!.
But as you said. Keeps them quit.

I am personally without kids - hence the possibility for me to be still up at 3am coding. The picture is from sowbug who was kind enough to share it here.

Doodle Blast! broke 75! I'm super grateful for all your positive reviews and feedback that helped push it that far. The Cocos2D community ROCKS!
Next target - top 50. I need some help figuring out how to get there. Do you guys have any good experiences with advertising, promotion, or other ways of generating interest? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Just got the game, will leave a review soon!
I wish I know how to get in the top 50!! I think big companies pay marketing agencies to make some ad campaigns, but that is too expensive for us single developers...

I left a review (jmgomezg), busy day today testing a few games!
Another proof that simple games are perhaps the best thing for iPhone games.
Love the sounds and movements.
As I have said somewhere, I wonder if I did complicated too much mine...Posted 1 year ago # -
Thank you for the review, itlgames! What's your game?
Doodle Blast! is my 7th game and it started life more as a dare than seriously structured effort. The other games have died pretty shortly after being published so it's not like I know some magical formula. I just got lucky this time. It almost seems that the more I try, the more likely I am to fail.
However, I think I might agree with you. Simpler can be better, at least to test out the waters before you invest serious time and effort into it.

I did "Alone", the isometric platformer game, you did try it: http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/forum/topic/4634

Oh right, of course. Sometimes I have trouble keeping games associated with their owner user aliases.
I really like "Alone". For me it's because I grew up on those types of games. I wonder if other people have similar associations.Posted 1 year ago # -
Yeah, I also grew playing with my ZX Spectrum back in the 80's, but the problem is, there may not be too much people, so I know the estimated reach of Alone is very limited.
But still, I just loved this kind of games and always wanted to do something similar.
I will be releasing other games using the same isometric engine, and zelda-like adventure and probably a shooter multiuser or something similar. For your game, have you considered autosave status? so if you close the app next time you can resume in same place. I think it's something very good to have in a mobile game.

That's a cool suggestion. I haven't considered it yet (or have a clue on how I would go about implementing it), but I will add it to the list of requests. Thanks for bringing it up!

On applicationWillTerminate event on your main delegate class, you could call a method to go through the list of objects in scene and save position. That is what I do on my game, I use SQLite to save all data, but you could even use the NSUserDefaults and save an array of objects.

Thanks, itlgames! I'll need to look into that for the next update.
Also, Doodle Blast! just got featured by Apple in the "Best Doodle Games" and "What's Hot" lists. I have no clue what either of these mean, but, hey, I'm excited anyway :)
Check it out!

Looks like many (most?) of the Doodle games are Cocos based!
Congratulations pfg2009!

On Friday I've submitted Doodle Blast! HD to the app store. I've added zoom, new enemies, a new doodles, and lots and lots of pixels. Now I'm just waiting to hear back from Apple. Of course, writing code for the iPad right now is like coding blindfolded, so I'm not holding my breath. However, if the game runs as expected, it will be a whole new experience! In fact, going back to the iPhone afterwards, I was experiencing some serious withdrawal symptoms - where did all my pixels go???
Anyway, here is an oversized teaser:

looking good! fingers crossed on getting approval. In still waiting for the pig update to go through, guess I'm stuck behind the iPad queue (mumble grumble).
Btw: nice idea running snow leopard from an external drive, wish I'd thought of it, I may have got STAPig HD out in time. Doh!

oy, the updates are stuck behind the iPad queue? i was hoping they would separate them out. how long ago have you submitted your update?

Awesome game and really like reading your blog about how you created it. Can't believe you've made it 7 days!

Thanks @eJayStudios! I was a little in the dark for the past couple of days, but I'm slowly re-emerging and will be posting more stuff soon. As always, any feedback, questions, or requests are always appreciated.
