Hi,
I am trying to build a cryptex (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryptex). It is a cylindrical device with 5 dials. Each dial will contain all the letters A-Z. I want to use this device to select a word by selecting one letter in each dial.
Does anyone have any idea on how to implement this in cocos2d(the UIkit iphone picker sux!!). I have not been able to find anything online.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

you could put the dials on a large sprite, touches rotate it around its central point, every letter should take up about 13.8 degrees of your total circle, so have a method that works out which letter is in your 'selection' slot based on its current rotation.
little bit of maths and a switch statement for each dial would be the way i'd do it
