Hey Man!
So yeah, Ive been here a loong time. Im that friggin genius that know what everyone else should do with their games but cant quite finish his :(
I realize the irony of wanting to create a game, and getting endlessly sidetracked in my development by playing other people's games and browsing the web in a clicktrance. Just one more lolcat before getting back to programming.
I have a mountain of respect for those of you that not only came up with a clever gameplay idea and programmed it, but created artwork, sound effects, music, fought with Apple/code-signing certificates/iTunesConnect, rejections and resubmissions, and wrote p.r. copy, sent emails/promocodes to every reviewer, sent followup emails when you didnt hear back, hung out in TouchArcade forums praying to get noticed. I friggin salute you guys!
I am a little disheartened that I see so many interesting/fun games that I think only get a few sales. I dont use promocodes - if there is a game I think Ill like Ill buy it, and if I do Ill give a good review/rating, and if I dont like it I dont give any review/rating. But there is no way around it, the AppStore sales charts have a real steep curve. Its not quite a set of steak knives for 2nd place, but its close.
I think I have something reasonably clever for my first game. Not worldchanging, but a pretty decent arcade/action based on a classic game, but I think I have a really good multi-touch control interface and some new gameplay ideas. I have some things Ive started, but getting everything together in a finished state is a hurdle for me. Still, Ill make sure to post when I get something in. Maybe for OS 4.0 ;)
good luck with GeoRain coolman!
