   Hi all,

   I am new to development and I have been using the simulator for my work so far. It's getting time to get an iTouch to really start running/testing etc on a real device and I am wondering if there would be an issue with going with the newer 32/64 GB models since they have a faster processor, etc.

   Specifically, if I am running an app on them will they significantly skew the performance so that although I get a good performance on the 3G, the app could still be too slow for the 1G, 2G?

   I know I could still get an older model, but I really would like to get the larger space for my own personal reasons, but I really don't want to handicap myself in terms of possibly limiting the audience for my future app.

   Anyone have any advice on this? Is there anyway to check compatibility with 1G and 2G on a 3G model?

   Yes, that will be the case and the danger lurking. You'll never know how good your app performs on the older devices unless you test it on one.

   You should try to get an old iPod Touch from eBay for cheap, or at least find someone you know with an older iPod or iPhone who'd be willing to lend it to you. No reason to not go for the full device though.

   Personally i'm going to get a new 32 GB iPod Touch because i want to test on (a) an iPod and (b) a faster device and (c) have a device i can hack without risking my iPhone so i can test the anti-crack features for my app.
