I have been researching this for a couple of days and have a few Questions.
From what I see in the speed tests, atlas offers is best, but what Image format should we use, PNG8,PNG24 (photoshop export) or PVR at double the size with 0.5 scaling?
Now I understand that regardless of the PNG format (8 or 24) it's just compression and they will both consume the same memory, unless I change the image format in cocos. But I could sure use some upfront guidance, to give our artist.
For performance in a full color game, with alpha channels, what format are you using, anyone going the PVR route, BTW I don't see PVR mentioned in the perf tests on the wiki, but in my research it looks like it would be wicked fast on the graphics card. Is PVR really faster, because it's a pain to do?
