touchCopter is basically a remake of those classic cave helicopter type games you may have seen on the webs, but it's done right. Full graphics instead of the vector imagery, couple different helicopter types to choose from, unlockable content and game modes. The Gold Rush mode kills all the lights in the cave, and equips your chopper with a spotlight to navigate the terrain.

This type of game was always a favorite of mine, so hopefully others will enjoy it too. Best of all it runs on the sweet gravy that is cocos2d.

No Lite version yet, but I'm hoping you folks will check it out.
It's not the most technically advanced game, but I'm happy to discuss any questions. Comments and feature requests are appreciated.

I was about to click "buy" when I saw you locked out 1st gen iPods. "Compatible with iphone and ipod touch (2nd generation)" means only 2nd gen ipod touches, right? What is wrong with you people?

I don't think I purposely locked it out. In fact I don't recall setting any parameter like that. It must default to that when submitting an app.

Anyway, no offense to 1st gen pods. I don't have one to test on, but I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible. If I can get it tested on a 1st gen iPod, and figure out how to change the min requirements; I certainly will. Thanks for making mention.

How do you even set the minimum device requirement? All the settings I've saw so far is setting the OS requirements.

The min-device requirement is one of the drop downs when you first submit your app. Now that it's in the store, the only way I'd bet you can change it is to call or email Apple & have them do it. ADC Customer Support is who you want to talk to.

It took awhile to be approved. It was submitted Jun 8, and was rejected 4 days later for a naming inconsistency (the install name *product name* was different than the name I submitted to the AppStore. After Fixing that, and submitting a new binary on Jun 14 it was Approved Jun 23.

@Codematic - now worries, thanks. And I will modify that requirement if possible.

All comments welcome, and if you pick it up and want a new feature let me know, I'll see what I can do in the next update.

I want to get another game mode in there as well as new helicopter type. Currently there's flags every 100 units to help gauge distance progress, I want to add a flag (maybe a tombstone) that indicates the last place you crashed. I also want to add a checkered flag that shows your previous best distance as you pass it.

Funny, I never got to set it, it was left unset. I wonder if it has to do with me loading the binary later. Anyhow, thanks for the tips, just got mine set for both iPhone and iPod Touch :) Hopefully it will be released soon! Good luck with your app sales!

@OldJames - I'd be interested in hearing how you implemented the Gold Rush mode i.e. using a spotlight. A screen shot of this mode would be great.

Nice game. You should add some audio effects and have the option for using the accelerometer. I got tired of touching after awhile.

@Steve Oldmeadow - The spotlight mode is rather a simple gimmick. I use a mask basically to cover the screen with a black transparency, and cut that transparency from where the spot light shines. It's simple, but I think it's a cool effect.

I have an open question about creating a lite version of the game. Can I use the same AppId to submit a Lite version to the AppStore?

@vutronic - I had a little engine sound in there before, but I tend to use a playlist in the background whenever I can, and the engine sound really just got on my nerves after 5min of play. But if people feel it's a lil' too quiet in that there cave, I can definately put it as an option maybe.

Also about the Accelerometer suggestion, I would, but then I'd have to change the name of the game... :)
Really tho, I've never done anything with the accelerometer, so if I can find a good example, I'll add it in to the version I'm working on now.

@codematic - on that note, I did find where to change that (2nd Gen) setting. Being a one man show tho, I don't have that hardware to test on in addition to the 2nd gen.
If you picked it up, let me know how it plays on 1st gen.
