This is still a work in progress and I need to take out the project specific things I have in there that are related to our app, but its working well and is based on CCControl http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/forum/topic/19915 (by YannickL) to dispatch events through Cocos2D, we are going to put the project onto github but in the mean time here is the project as a zip, http://www.creativewax.co.uk/private/SketchShareColourPicker.zip

This isn't built the best way at the moment, but after people beta testing the app and people seeing the video there was a lot of requests for people to see how we did the colour picker, so being nice we thought we would just put it up for all to enjoy :D

The colour pickers great for kids or people with fat fingers as it has around 3.141 times the space for the color selection over your standard colour pickers (soooooo 2010 ;)

It'd be nice to coordinate a set of polished CCControls to speed up prototyping, I'm sure the guys working on the layout tools could add support for them into their apps. @YannickL's target action approach mirrors apple's and is less likely to confuse people new to cocos2d but familiar with UIKit who just want to add some controls to their app.

Dude, you guys rule! Thanks so much for making this available to the community. It is one of the best color pickers I've ever seen! Very fun and intuitive way to pick your favorite color. Again best of luck with SketchShare! :]

@rwenderlich Cheers! We have plans to explain how more of the app works. Thanks for the great Game Centre tutorials I got to see my kids grow up a little more rather than pouring over apples documentation ;)

I'm glad to see that the CCControl extension can be useful for other projects. If you need any supports (or any ideas) for this don't hesitate (I think to add the block management in addition to the target-action pairs).

I take this opportunity to congratulate you for the work you did with SketchShare, it's very impressive. Good luck for the future!

Thanks for all the positive feedback, we've had quite a lot of interest and for a colour picker to be described as fun, mission accomplished :)

I've been thinking a little more about a set of components that could both enable rapid prototyping and give a foot up anyone who wants to start building their own. One approach could be to build something along the lines of Keith Peters (@bit101) Minimal components http://www.minimalcomps.com/ we could even make use of the existing MinimalCompDesigner http://www.bit-101.com/MinimalDesigner/

Life's too short to reinvent the button :)
