I would like to know if some fo you have already dealed with Plus+ network. It seems to be a network with high quality games and there is a lot of buzz around it. Do you think there is a nice positive impact on the sales when a game is Plus+ enabled.

The thing that turned me off from Plus was every game I played that had it MADE you sign up which annoys many people including me. OpenFeint will assign you a generic id like "Player123212" that you can change at any time.

the only thing i don't like much about plus+ (as a gamer) is it doesn't appear to be as offline friendly. and as jd mentioned, forced registration is never cool. there are a lot of people out there with ipod touches and dont have access to wifi all the time. whatever you pick make sure its offline friendly.
it may be worth looking at the agon platform as well. i've read its very offline friendly (can view your achievements offline, etc)
here is a plus+ vs openfeint comparison if you haven't looked into the differences yet

Ok thx for the opinions. Nice article. I did'nt know about the need to register, and that is VERY anoying.

Hiya,
I just wanted to chime in to say that Plus+ registration is optional in paid games.

MJ - Not the paid nimblebits games I have. They made me sign up.

Sorry, you are right. It wasn't Nimblebits. It was one of the paid games offered free for a couple days by ngmoco to celebrate addition of Plus+. I tried a couple times to play the game without creating a user id and password and it would not let me. Are you telling me that's not true?

Thx for the clarification.

You guys should also take a look at PlayHaven. (http://blog.playhaven.com) Its a community platform just officially launched today (ZombieSmash! is launch partner) and its great for sharing reviews/guides/feedback. So far it is complementary to OpenFeint and Plus+, no highscores, achievements etc. Unlike OpenFeint you don't need to double your app size by linking in tons of code. Its just embedded in a WebView.

We chose AGON for our games. It was very easy to install and works like a dream. It didnt have a very large hit on the final app size and its ability to deal with offline accounts is very nice.

How are Leaderboards nowadays?
Plus Plus x OpenFeintI'm thinking on not having it anymore, OpenFeint is giving me a lot of trouble every update I do. It always crash on it.

I just finished updating an app from Openfeint 2.10 to Openfeint 2.12.5 - this was a big pain as they changed their APIs - mostly out of removing C++ dependencies to going with a strict Objective C API (although there is some kind of backwards compatibility mode that I could not get to work).
As for what system to go with - well, Plus+ is strictly an Ngmoco thing, I'm not sure if it is used outside of their apps anymore if at all. I would go with either Openfeint, Gamecenter, or the combined Openfeint+Gamecenter which Openfeint has built into their APIs to make it east to do both.
