Ok, if I understand correctly, a cocos atlas sprite can have 4-bit, 16-bit, or 32-bit pixel depths, right? Is there an 8bpp mode by any chance? What transparency modes are supported in the various pixel depths?
Also, what image formats would you suggest for saving in the various pixel depths?
I know there are supposed to be formats that support multi-bit alpha channel in 8 or 16-bit mode, but reliable information is hard to find =/
