I really enjoyed that thread, too bad the troll slipped up when he started getting agitated though. In the first couple of posts he was doing a really good job, writing well (if with a few grammatical errors) and generally keeping his head cool. He even threw in some nice quotes. But alas, his temper showed quickly and his language skills went down the drain. It could've reached epic proportions had he kept up the original level :-)
Martin: I can absolutely see your point, and sometimes working with designers in my "day job" (freelance tech journalism), I have heard similar concerns. I guess what I was really trying to say is, the optimal thing is if you actually find a partner – most likely a friend or previous co-worker – to work with in a joint venture. Finding a random artist who's willing to bank on your idea is obviously not gonna work. Some of the best ideas start in the bar among friends who are just chatting and having fun. I bet Angry Birds began in that, or a similar, way. How else would you come up with birds shooting themselves from a catapult to annihilate pigs who stole their eggs?
Designer here. Hit me up, any and all programmers looking for someone to work for profit splits. Hit me up on email: dissidently(at)gmail.com
I don't know what the troll is that you're talking about, think I missed that part of the thread, and can't be bothered hunting it.
I do recognise there's a massive difference in mindset between programmers and designers/artists/musicians etc... but it takes all sorts, so I don't mind.
