Hi everyone!
What software do you use for your graphics designing?
I ask this as soon I have got to make new graphics for my game, which look 3D, but are 2D, and are of high quality.
Thanks :)

I use Photoshop CS5 - it can do basically everything :D
Ahhhh, thanks :)
I presume having different textures (wood, shiny...) go under 'everything'?
Yup - you just change something in the blending options and it looks pretty good :D
tiggybouncer,
Also consider hiring a graphic designer. One that has made games before. It is always well worth the money. Take a look at the Jobs section on the cocos2d forum. I believe I saw a graphic designer there looking to work with someone right now.
@tenacious_turtle cool :)
@Tone I would consider it, if I:
1:Had enough money
2:If I was old enough to hire anyone (I'm 13)
So yeah, I like the concept of getting a professional, but that would have to be once I've got apps on the app store :)
Tiggybouncer, Adobe Photoshop can do basically anything you want. However creating good graphics is not just based on the program you use. It is just a tool thats at your disposal. Consider taking a look at this site http://psd.tutsplus.com/ it has lots of really good photoshop tutorials that will help you learn how to use it to create what you need.
you could consider using Inkscape, which is free... here's a good tutorial on using it too:
lots of people use Adobe Flash, but it costs $$$ too...
A free alternative to Photoshop is Gimp http://www.gimp.org/macintosh/
If you want totally free go with Gimp - it is very fully featured.
Also, for $30 you can buy Pixelmator from the Mac App Store which has most of what Photoshop has.
If you are looking to do pixelart specific stuff, I just started using the free app GrafX2:
http://code.google.com/p/grafx2/
This is a free program for doing retro-pixelart type stuff and has features not found in other programs.
I find that illustrator is a very good tool
Right, so either:
-Photoshop
-Inkscape
-Gimp
-Illustrator
-Pixelmator
-GrafX2
I'll look at them later :)And thanks everyone :D
Wish Gimp had a pointer to move things around. Other than that it is a great FREE tool.
You can move things around. The icon on the toolbox for the move tool is two crossing arrows, not a pointer. Gimp is easy to learn also, I taught myself. Check out gimpusers.com for tutorials and forums and other help.
I am pretty sure the professional graphic designers use photoshop, and it is what the will probably teach you when you go to university. I could be wrong, but it is the most used graphic tool in the world.
It is also horribly expensive, but I think they have a student version though.
If you are looking into furthering your graphic design career, then Photoshop is something you should have written to Santa for.
Cheers
Shane
You don't need to be a professional to make professional looking graphics though. You can do some really good stuff with gimp.
Photoshop is industry standard for graphic design, but some of us are broke and can't afford it lol. Gimp is the closest to photoshop you can get for free. If you didn't know this, you can even SAVE your gimp files as a photoshop file and open them in photoshop. Crazy right?
There you go. I will now request all my Gimp files as Psd files.
Thanks for pointing that out mate.
btw. every time I open it up I think of that movie Pulp Fiction. Photoshop is much more pleasant to open and use.
Cheers
Shane
Yes I can agree with you on that one. I'm interested in trying some pixel art stuff. Is grafx2 easy to start working with? Also, can I take existing sprites that I have and "pixelate" them somehow?
