   Hi, as an inexperienced indie... I have question on how do i acquire song/music/sound effect for my game

   Do I pay someone to compose/perform a music for me ? ... but even with this option, where do i find these people ?
   or is there a site(s) that i can find suitable music for my game

   really need some good advise!! thanks

   I got a friend that's really into music and he recommended soundsnap. Checkout the website and prices, for the game I developed I only used sounds from soundsnap. They have really nice sounds with great quality.

   It worked for me so you can check it out.

   Also I think what enhanced the sounds for my game was randomizing the pitch each time the same sound was played, it really made a difference.

   It's really worth sitting down with something like garage band for a while and seeing what you can make.

   For sound effects etc, freesound.org is a nice resource.

   For sounds effects, we're just bashing stuff into other stuff.

   All music is being made by a musician friend of mine for a percentage-cut of the total income.

   A good source is newgrounds.com. There are tons of talented users who are always uploading great video game music. You would just need to ask them first before using their music in your game.

    There are a lot of people on the forums at gamedev.net (and here too!) that are offering to write music for games (I guess I'd be one of them.. PM if interested ;). Also, members of various music communities such as ocremix or thasauce are usually up for working on video game music projects (I'm getting a few thasauce members to write music for one of my upcoming games).

    It really depends what you are looking for; I personally found a lot of great songs on shockwave-sound.com and free samples for SFX at freesound.org. Both great sites (the latter of which is free + royalty free, as the name implies. The former makes you buy a distribution license with an optional distribution license upgrade after-the-fact, should you sell 5000+ units).

    If you have the budget, get your music created professionally. Please only attempt your own music if you've gone to Berklee and majored in Music Theory ;) Haha, nah just joking.

    Ever hear of "Game Music Bundle"? It's kind of like the Humble Bundle for indie games, but it's the music from the games instead....

    Long story short, go here:

    http://www.gamemusicbundle.com/

    and click on the games to listen to their soundtracks.... and you can see profile info on the artists that made the music for these indie games.... you might be able to get them to write something for you at a reasonable price, though I haven't tried at all!
