   Hey everyone. I'm wondering how to get started in the 3D graphics field. I'm very good with 2D graphics but have never tried any kind of 3D work. Any suggestions on how to get started? Such as what program to download (MUST BE FREE) and how to learn to use it.

   Blender can export into several standard formats like DXF or OBJ. There will either be a converter or maybe Blender already has an exporter that is suited for Cocos3D. I'm still completely clueless about Cocos3D so I have no idea what format it needs.

   Right now it only works with .pod, so you need to convert to that. Search the forums for Collada2POD and PVRShaman. They're downloads you can get from http://www.imgtec.com after you register

   As stated in an earlier post Blender is commonly used but the latest release does not directly support .pod export. You need to (must!) register & download the PowerVR SDK mentioned in other posts. There are some sample meshes there and the .pod export plugins and collada to pod stand alone tool.

   Try Turbo Squid for models if you want some more pre-existing ones. You have to register. There are lots of totally free & cheap models.

   Look at all the recent posts about models / pod etc & you will build up a picture of the current state of play.

   If you have never used a 3D design tool then Blender will be fine for you. It has it's own approach that works fine.

   Ok for some reason I am having trouble with blender maneuvering around the 3D objects. I have my mac on tap-to-click setting because the click on my trackpad is messed up and doesn't work sometimes. I have 3 finger drag enabled but for some reason when I swipe 3 fingers to move in blender nothing happens. Any idea how to fix this?

   I suggest you use blender with a mouse and a keyboard that has a numpad. If you can't manage to do that there is an option called "emulate 3 button mouse" that you can test in the preferences.

    Yeah I will have to go buy a 3 button mouse... Every computer in my house is a mac so no 3 button mice laying around.. -_-
