Just ordered a double mug myself. Our game is doing really well, and I do plan to donate more to the project once we get our finances in order.

So I wonder, how hard would it be to set up a mini web app here that that promotes cocos2d games by way of the itunes affiliate program? I know I would certainly use it to buy games announced in the new games forum. And it would be nice to see a percentage of that revenue sent back to the cocos2d project.

Yes, it would be a good idea to promote more the cocos2d games.
Perhaps the "games" tab should display a nice, ease to browse web page with the cocos2d games.
Anyone interested in coding it ?Posted 3 years ago # -
Thanks again Ricardo for your cocos2d, I have contribute a little buying today an angry cocos mug! My first game is not doing so well, but if I manage to get some decent revenue will do another contribution.
Also I could put some links back to cocos2d on my website if you like, with some icons or images, do you have any standard banner or something?
Cheers,
Jose.

By the way, happy to contribute with that games page if you still need it, just saw that last post you did a month ago. You thinking in something dynamic? (so all games/info/images are in database)

I agree with yarri, it's time to rethink the license scheme for Riq's sake and all of ours. I was a business school graduate before I was a programmer. Please indulge me :)
The problem:
- Riq deserves to make a living from his work on cocos2d
- We need cocos2d support
As it stands now, Riq is working full time on cocos2d. His only real revenue is the source code for sapas tongue (mugs don't count, he only gets %10 of the sale).
Therefore, there is an economic incentive for him to put his efforts into documenting the source code that he sells, but there is no incentive for him to offer help elsewhere. The help he so generously offers for free in the forum and the wiki is just a reflection of his good character.
I see two alternatives for revenue that gets everyone what they want:
- Riq writes a book on cocos2d. It includes code samples, best practices, etc. This has been done before with other game engines, like SIO2. With the growing popularity of cocos2d, someone is going to write this book eventually. It should be Riq.
- License the game engine as a percentage of sales. Include a floor level of course to encourage people to learn it. But, if your game makes above $X, you become contractually obligated to kick back Y%. I like this because Riq is now a partner in the success of your game. And because Riq is a partner, we all become partners, and want to help each other.
What do you all think?

Love the T-shirts you have there! Loooove the new Cocos2d logo! Just ordered myself couple of T-shirts! Sweet!

@Adam: Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have plans to change the license. In fact the next release will have a more open license: MIT.
I don't want to force anyone to pay me a percentage of his revenues, but if he/she receives a big check from Apple, I wouldn't mind receiving a nice donation :-)For the moment I'm making ends meet. I'll continue to improve LevelSVG/Sapus Tongue so users keep purchasing it, and I might offer some kind of "professional" support in the future.

@Riq
Paid support is a fantastic idea. I would be a customer. My ISP does it this way:
- Customer buys prepaid support points.
- Support points are spent when the support tech answers your question. Generally, 1 point per issue. However, if it is a difficult or time consuming question, the tech can charge more points.
- Questions can be made "urgent" at the expense of more points.

Hi riq, just wondering, could you add hoodies to the cocos2d zazzle store? (US)
I plan on getting an angry cocos2d t-shirt at the end of march, but also would love an angry cocos2d hoodie :)

Hi Riq,
What's the status of LevelSVG and the SapusTongue source? I noticed they haven't been sold in the store for a while now. Are they coming back?
Thanks for all your hard work.

Which book? Ray's book? I like it too, but I don't believe any of the money goes to support cocos2d.
