I tried out Lost Monsters, and I think it is a good puzzle game ... in a nice wrapping.
I had two major issues while playing.
1) I hated that the nice lady didn't say anything
2) I didn't fully ( bother to ) understand the game mechanics
Both issues are not showstoppers, and you could disregard me as simply not being interested enough in your game.
It is not in any way bad, neither is the video. Actually the video is very spot on in regard to the game.
It's just that ...
Havent I just seen all this a gazillion times before?
To be honest, I am a bit discouraged myself. Maybe I should go back to being a goat shepherd?
We are up against guys making House of Mice, Cow Troubles, League of Evil and the final deathblow to my career ... Eat my oil.
*stares at the wall*
thank you for your comments! actually, yes - I agree about the Lady. I unfortunately reserved my name before I was far along enough in the dev cycle and was force to leave some incomplete things out.
I seriously am considering taking her out of the level-ups, because she doesn't really serve a point there. Unless, I actually add some text.
This was my first game, so I didn't want to get into learning Box2d ontop of cocos2d and objective-c. Which is why I created a puzzle game. Good/Bad idea? Not sure - we will see.
I think you are right about the discouragement, I look at some of the games that are out there... and I feel like I have a lot of work ahead of me to get there
But then I think about "Tiny Wings".... beating out Angry birds and other games for the top spot (although maybe only temporarily), and I get hope.
We just need original ideas, original game-play. I actually am holding onto my magnum opus idea, until I get a little more experience under my belt, hince this game
Thank you again! I actually enjoy the honest critique, you show friends and family, and of course they just "love" it. But that doesn't add as much value as one simple honest comment.
Thanks again, and good luck!
