As i heard, Chillingo is a good buplisher, nothig to say about others, as i'm don't know about them.

Great, i've contacted chillingo now and we'll see how it goes.

@manucorporat If you see this, what are your experiences with Chillingo?
Posted 1 year ago # -
I generally feel personally and have heard, don't go with a publisher. Apple makes it super easy and cheap to publish by yourself.
While you may be seen a little more under a large publishers name, that extra money from sales your handing over to the publisher anyway.
Chillingo publishes a lot of crap as well and just because its with them doesn't appear to help them at all. Generally, while challenging in any case, your game will do well so long as its popular, the publisher won't change how good a game is.

Do keep us posted, I'm still trying to decide if to go with a publisher or to do it on my own...
Posted 1 year ago # -
well, as indie devs, its hard to decide and manage, if you show them a demo, before publishing they can create same concept.

Acc.2 me..its better 2 take step of your own....
May be u dnt get same success..but atleast there is less risk of Concept Theft.....Posted 1 year ago # -
There is a 0% chance of concept theft
Posted 1 year ago # -
suppose u show a game 2 chillingo...and if dey reject it....and concept is entirely different...
SO they are so well developed publishers sat dey can make a game of same concept before ur launch..
rest I neva interacted with any body 4m chillingo...
May be dey are gud enf to keep concept original....Posted 1 year ago # -
Chillingo doesn't develop, and you are VERY hard to understand. Plus dont use 4m, 2 and such, it's in the forum rules to dont use texting language.

I would say it is worth trying out. You will at the very least have a lot more eyeballs on your app given the promotion. This in turn will ideally generate enough traffic to propel you into Top 10 territory and if the proposition is strong enough and resonates well with the end users you will maintain a healthy position in the charts.
If it helps you stand out above the noise of day to day app releases then it can only help improve your odds of success.
Once you have made your millions @ruben301 you can of course denounce publishers as unnecessary ;-)

Chillingo is very useful if you have developed a great game but you haven't got economic resources and press contacts to make a success.

They've contacted me back now and i'm going to send them a little demo build.
Thanks everyone!

Do let us know how it goes - I'm also considering this for future releases!
Good luck!

congrats and please let us knw about their feedback...
@all..
Thanx for the suggestions..I knw they are publishers...and taken over by EA..
Being a developer I keep these things in mind...I am not from marketing side...Posted 1 year ago # -
Chillingo wouldn't be in business long if they ripped off ideas, coupled with them being publishers and not developers I think your idea is safe.
Angry Birds was put out on the 'budget' label and it still did quite well I've heard ;) Whether you go with a publisher or not the key is to have an excellent well polished game. Games like Trainyard show you don't need a mega budget to do well, just a good game and a lot of patience.

I don't really understand the worries some people have about piracy and concept theft. I only see these as wastes of time and thought because it's so much less important/likely than just making a good unique game.
It seems highly underestimated to me, the amount of financial effort and risk another party assumes in trying to compromise your work. Execution > Concept
The best example I can see of this kind of theft lately, was when that "The Blocks Cometh" knock off was on the store. Note that "The Blocks Cometh" was already popularized and successful outside of the iOS. That wasn't even concept theft, it was flat out plagiarism.
@manucorporat Are you allowed to disclose what percentage Chillingo takes or is that a no-no?
Posted 1 year ago # -
You get 50% according to manu.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Now, is that 35% of total revenue considering Apple's cut or an actual 50% meaning the publisher takes 20%?
Posted 1 year ago # -
I'm interested in how it goes for you. I am pretty sure that Chillingo have an agreement with Apple that they will put their games in the new¬eworthy and stuff like that.
If your game would sell 20 copies a day without Chillingo, but will sell 1000 copies a day with them, then 50% will still get you more money than getting the full percentage..Posted 1 year ago # -
Hmm, we'll have to ask manu, i'm going to pm him.
Posted 1 year ago # -
yes,
35% to you
35% to Chillingo
30% to ApplePosted 1 year ago # -
Sounds fair ^^

Priyanka Sabaharwal, of course you're right... but what is "a bit of your part in marketing"?
Google Ads?
Ads on review sites?
an Ad during the super-bowl? :)
Those also cost money. And I bet that Chillingo have much more resources and marketing knowledge to pull stuff off better than me.
But hey, Tiny Wings did it without any of those... but will any of us hit that 0.05% of "success without doing anything"? :)
Posted 1 year ago # -
hmm, another 35% off to chillingo does sound like a big piece of the pie. And I assume its done via their apple account and not yours? I.e. they upload it to apple and you lose control?
Doesn't sound appealing, I'd rather hire a PR company if thats the deal.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Thats not a bad deal.

Here are my thoughts on the subject
1. If a big publisher like Chillingo goes with you, you will gain Alot more exposure than if you try and market it yourself.
2. If the big publisher decides not to go with you (after you write them), they may/should at least provide some valuable feedback about your game that you would otherwise not get.Posted 1 year ago # -
sndwav....
Ya dats true for sure....
I dint get a chance to play this game..
I'll surely play that as soon as possible..Nice toking to you sir...:)
