making a player control the easiest way.. menuitem or another way?

Hi i would like to create simple player control UP DOWN FORWARD BACKWARD but i am not sure which method to use.. i was thinking about using menuitem.. but is there another way of using the new touch target events.. cant find any info or examples about them..

If the player character moves in discrete units menuitems are fine. But if you want to create fluid movement you should create your own control scheme.

Well if you want to be able to hold down the button then no. The button only knows when it's clicked and it really restricts movement. You really should make your own control scheme.
