I'm proud to present my first iPhone game, made in Cocos2D:

Flap Flap is an addictive, fun flying game that anyone can play and enjoy. It combines simple, elegant controls with beautiful, bright visuals giving you a fun ride that you'd want to play over and over. How far will you flap?

You did a great job with that single button, and it is actually quite funny controlling the little blackbird.

Having said that, it instantly annoyed me, that after gathering 2 red rings, I was "forced" to fly into another color, to avoid some monsters. That is not cool. Also, after finally gathering 3 red rings, I nearly wetted myself in anticipation for the speed boost, but nothing happened. It wrote speed boost, but gameplay was the same. Later, after getting frustrated with not being able to gather the rings, I finally got 3 more reds, and the speed boost worked. For 0.001 seconds, until I ran into something. Have no idea what. Maybe this was also the case the first time, but first time I blinked ...

At some point I completed the forrest, and got to an ice world with flying sealions ... or whatever they were, but when I died and restarted, I was back in the forrest. That is also not cool. I completed that one. Go away forrest.

After 30 minutes of playing, I have discovered nothing new, that I didn't discover in the first 5 seconds I played, and I am starting to wonder if I ever will. The rings make little sense, the monsters even less, and if there isn't more gameplay, then I am afraid it is to little. The graphics are nice, the sounds is okay, and the controls are great, but to be honest, I would get bored real fast.

And why the rings? Why not small insects the bird eats, or flowers, or something we can relate to. And why the weird monsters? Why not small hawks, or something dangerous to a little bird. Would have made the game much better I think.
Also, with the great control, make some obstacles or something.

You put a lot of attention into that little bird, and it shows. The small puff of feathers, the controls, flapping of the wings etc, but I think there is to little content in the rest of the game.

Thanks for your constructive feedback.

The speed boost you get for 3 red rings will last until you crash into the ground or an enemy. Three blue rings makes you float above the enemies, while three green ones will feed your energy meter.

I understand that you might find it annoying to have to restart from the beginning every time, but mastering the controls will send you through the first stages in no time :)

I guess it is a bit like Canabalt in which you start from a central point and see how far you get. With 18 achievements and leaderboards for longest flight and longest speed boost I hope there is enough content to keep the players occupied for quite some time, but of course you must enjoy the casual/endurance genre.

I'm very happy that you like the controls and the graphics etc, it's been fun making!

I struggle with an old 3G and have no access to GC. That obviously prevents me from using a lot of your features.

I think it would be more "fun" if it appeared the bird was moving faster.

The menu seems to be missing sounds too.

@mochibits: Thanks for playing! Try catching three red rings, it gives you a speed boost :) Speed also goes up and up as you progress through the game.

A review on the App Store and a star rating is very much appreciated!

@cocojoe: Thanks :) About the name, several (boys) have made the same comment. I guess that would be a very different game. Probably hard(!) to get past the Apple review guys :)
