@jamil, thanks for the logos.
As @Game Smith said, feel free to upload them to the wiki.
Cocos2D logo, can we improve it

Perhaps it could have an ipod touch/iphone with the EQ on the screen, instead of a hi-fi?
I think apps have gotten into trouble for including images of the iphone/touch.
The logos look great! Perhaps add one of a Chipmunk holding a coconut and looking confused?

good point Steve

Actually that's why I didn't do it, read about it in a dummies book
Anyway thanks for the feedback guys, I will surely add it when I'm done but I still have a few changes to make
Check back tonight for an updatePosted 2 years ago # -
Please upload the lineart too! Id like to make a version w/o the background, so I can make it fit in with my own background. Thanks.

Just a thought:
Maybe we could have a standard 480x320 (and 320x480) standard screen with the cocos2d logo based on the great artwork above to give users a consistent experience. I think showing the screen for 2 seconds at startup isn't too much to ask developers. In fact, we could provide CocosIntroScene.h and .m source that people could use. I don't think the screen would need to fit into a game theme. Users are used to seeing screens like this."Powered by cocos2D" would be cool.

I think the logos look great. And cocos should get the credit it deserves. But lets not go overboard - 99% of the end users dont care that it uses cocos. We dont put a big "OpenGL" logo, or Cocoa-Touch, or made with XCode or "Sprites designed with Photoshop" on the splash page.
In the "about" screen and on the developer's site seems like good places for a small cocos icon and explaination to me. Developers that care will find it there.

+1 @Codemattic
Posted 2 years ago # -
@Codemattic I agree. End users want to jump into their apps immediately and some apps inherently need to work that way. The "about" section is the best place to give credit.
Posted 2 years ago # -
@codematic I agree, we're in danger of Default screen, publisher screen, developer splash, game title, Menu screen before the game has even started.
The about screen and the developers own site are the ideal locations for credit to be given, without detracting from the experience of the typical user.

@Jamil :
It's been said already but nice work ! I love the CocosDenshion logo. The one for Box2D is funny too, but is it really useful ? I mean, if you were to say you're using Box2D in your game, you'd probably want to use the official Box2D logo, wouldn't you ? Anyway, thanks for your work. Is it possible to see the logos both with and without the shine ?@Codemattic :
You almost always make sense (just teasing :p). Only a developer could be interested in knowing that a game uses Cocos2D. But if you look at the SIO2 project, it is asked to put an SIO2 splash screen if you use the free version and don't buy the indie license (btw, I like this idea). It may be strategic (if you don't want to put the splash screen, buy the license) but I believe there's another point.@riq, @sunsu, @n8tr (and many others) :
(off topic) You use "@" before a user name to show you're talking to this user. In any other case, you just write the user's name without the "@" symbol. eg : it was Codemattic's idea.@abitofcode :
The avalanche of screens is very common in the video game industry. It was already like that 15 years ago (and maybe more, but I'm not old enough to remember). The more "pre-play" screens, the bigger your game seems. It's like in movies or TV shows, the names of the actors, producers, etc, run at the bottom of the screen for the first 10 minutes.Posted 2 years ago # -

So I tried out a splash screen idea, simple but you guys can play around with it
the empty middle area were for the other logos, but I got lazy, will add them in the futurebut I had a little issue, first off why doesn't the parts I commented out work? Well they work but don't allow for actions to run
secondly, and this is a bit unrelated, from my main menu list, it takes a couple seconds for the game to load, at which time I can click on the menu list item again and cause it the program to crash, shouldn't a second click be disabled?@Clain, I think what you say about Box2D makes sense, actually that's why I didn't make it at first, but somewhere along they way I thought it would be a cool idea, so I figured it wouldn't hurt
Posted 2 years ago # -
@Clain, "almost"? Yeah, Unity3d also has similar requirements wrt titlecards. And yeah, its funny at the end of tv shows when they cycle through all the production/finance/vanity studios involved.
@Jamil, the link you gave doesnt go to your artwork. What about one for Chipmunk - or are we all moving to Box2D now.

sorry guys, here it is again from a different hosting site
http://www.mediafire.com/?tqznzz1yi1zI'll see if I can get one in for Chipmunk fans tonight

Hi,
Michael Heald ( from http://fullyillustrated.com ) contacted me last week, just before this thread was started, offering to make a cocos2d logo.
It seems that many people would like a better cocos2d logo, and I understand that :)
2 days ago he sent me these concept logos that he made:
http://www.fullyillustrated.com/client/cocos-2d/cocos-2d-concepts.htmI really like the 2nd one (the innocent looking logo).
what's your opinion ?
BTW: I also like jamil's CocosDenshion logo.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Holy crap, those are awesome. I love them both.
Posted 2 years ago # -
@Riq, I vote for the 2nd innocent looking logo as well. Very clean and polished, that's something you can put your brand around. Jamil's work is also great.
Regards
Posted 2 years ago # -
Yea I love them both! There's a certain thing about it, can be used in any game really! And the cocosdenshion made by jamil is also awesome. But yea I like both of them a lot.
Posted 2 years ago # -
very nice! Both look cool, but the 2nd one prob gives a less sinister impression.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Agree with others about 2nd one and jamil's great work. Maybe there can be smaller badges for cocosDenshion and chipmunk and box2d that can be overlaid on the sides where necessary.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Michael Heald's 2nd one looks good, though it would be nice if it looked more like a coconut...
Riq, you've got an embarrassment of riches from which to choose!
Posted 2 years ago # -
I like both of Michael's, it would be nice to be able to choose between the two upon a game by game basis.
Although, I think Jamil's logos look more like a coconut, plus I kinda like the cartoony feel.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I like the 'evil' looking one >:)
Posted 2 years ago # -
It's cuz of your nature codemattic ;)
Posted 2 years ago # -
Michael's logos are awesome - Lots of personality! Prefer the mean one ;)
Posted 2 years ago # -
I'm a bit biased (I'm working with Mike on a cocos2d based game at the moment) but I think the new designs will help bring cocos2d to the attention of people who may have previously written it off as a hobbyists plaything. The freedom and evolution of cocos2d is what initially attracted me to it and these logos can only help in bringing the project to a wider audience.

@abitofcode, lucky guy working with such a great artist.
