Officially entering the contest! Will definitely be checking this book out. It sounds like you are hitting the exact weak point with this book, the disconnect between learning the toolset and learning to make an actual game.

I am a software programmer that has worked a bunch in ADA. My job went away and now I work as a database admin. I am hoping to return to programming by creating apps and I need this book to help me begin with Cocos2d.

I already have a copy of the book and would highly recommend it -- and I am going to tell you why I deserve ANOTHER ONE.
First off, Dragyn is an Excellent teacher, (which really is the most important part) because if you have the knowledge but can't teach, what's point?

But, I have a quote directly from the author, instructing me to purchase another book -- from a previous blog post.

".....Ahhhh.. I think a multi-part question requires the purchase of multiple copies of the book.... *heh* I never promised I'd have a good, complete, or even accurate answer (be forewarned)."

And if I am given this 2nd book, I am going to donate it to the Library, of which my Mom is a board member. And with the donated book (which I will take a picture of along with my own copy) I am going to try and teach a simple little class at the Library.

And most importantly -- this one donated book -- could turn into a few purchases for your publishing company. SInce my Mom, along with a few other old ladies are in charge of buying new material.

So, to recap.... 1. Author instructed me to buy another book. 2. The book will be donated for many to read. 3. Could lead to a few more sales. 4. Will give you a nice picture of your donated book on a library shelf.

Hi!

I'm currently also making my own game after studying and experimenting with objective-C and cocos2d for a few months. Basically, my background is C and a little C++. I know the basics of OOP and lately I've been reading books about OOP design patterns specifically Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software. Right now, I've been trying to apply its concepts in my game and I think it would be much easier for me with the help of this book.

Hoping to get a copy! :)

Long ago a wise man asked me what would I do if money was not the problem? Well, perhaps creating video games. So, why not? No fame and fortune, but a lot of fun, and for the money, I have my alienating current job.

Well done with the book. Right now I'm using the animateWithDuration [UIButton: time animations: ^ {........ but I'm trying to use cocos to save the little sanity left in my mind. This book would be a good start.

Hope to get my hands on this book, have always been interested in books teaching on cocos2d but didn't find many particularly on games. Learning cocos2d was a great book but it is a pity that it is for v1 of cocos2d, so hoping this book can help me learn more on v2 of cocos2d and of course the important thing will be about games.

I've coded a lot of stuff with cocos2d and chipmunk but never got into Box2D due to it's hard learning steep. I guess this book can guide me this way to try Box2d. Getting it free is awesomenessx2

My son who is now 11 has been trying to get me to do his game idea for over a year and I have been looking for a a book which would really help me learn cocos2d. Maybe with this his ides can be realized in the app store.

I'm definitely interested in this book to expand my knowledge of programming for the iPhone. I have made some very mediocre apps and I am looking for that last push to make some really great apps and games. I am an independent programmer and developer; I can use any help I can get to stay competitive in the tough iPhone app market.
