My app has been "In Review" for 23 days now. :( Has anybody else recently had an extended review process? I've been trying to think of reasons why it would take them so long since other apps that I've submitted since this one have completed the review process in 7 days.

This is my first project where I used any engines...I used Chipmunk, CocosDenshion, and cocos2d. I don't think it would be related to that...but I'm grasping at straws here. Apple basically ignores my inquires about why it's taking so long.

Anybody have any clues??

Hello Ryan.

Probably Apple was busy reviewing my apps :) They just released four apps I developed. All use cocos2d. It took them exactly two weeks. Though I still wait for another app to be released - in review since two weeks now. But as you might have guessed, all apps are pretty small and should take only minutes to review :(

We had a 7 day wait to hear that a novelty app we've produced may be insulting public figures. Re-submitted with some tweaks at the weekend (same day we got the email), hoping it won't be any longer than 7 days for the next update. They did respond back to my email within a day, although it was only a simple, we'll bare your comments in mind when reviewing your new version type mail.

@Joe - 4 apps in one go! What type of apps are they?

@PhilM "Why so socialist?" Does apple worry about satire? Do they censor Satire?

From what I can read on forums and twitter, it seems the approval duration has been increasing lately. Seomthing like 2 weeks is the average now. 2 month ago my app was approved in 9 days.

2 months ago I managed to get my apps approved in a matter of a week.
As for today it takes 2-4 weeks, my latest app is sitting in review for the last 13 days it's just an update, a minor tweak.
Apple has got to do something to improve their review system, it's impossible to go on like this.

It does seem to be pretty random though.
Mini Taxi was approved in 7 days, and this was last week.
I wonder?

Also, Apple does inform developers on average approval time on the Dev Center.
It currently says 14 days.

Yea we were expecting 2 weeks until I saw your post patrickC, saying you got approved in 7 days! Low and behold, we were reviewed exactly 7 days after submission, the day after you. Perhaps Apple were having a catch up week?

I have read before that Apple sometimes seems to group certain types of apps for review, so that could possibly lead to delays of the less popular app types?

@Osiris: Yes, Apple does seem to want to sensor satire. We did our best to make this app non insulting to those figures in it, but it seems as soon as you have animations based on famous people, you run into a gray area. Fingers crossed the tweaks get us through, otherwise our next upload will have to remove one of the more well known figures :-/

I'm in the UK, so don't have any knowledge of US law. The company I worked on this project with had their own solicitors check to make sure everything was acceptable with EU & US laws etc.

I think it may be because one of the characters happens to be a politician now, so that may put them (in Apples eyes) into a different category than regular 'celebrities'. I'll have to wait and see...

hehe, yes, he happens to be one of the characters. We have a couple of others for the launch version, and more planned, but have stopped all development on the project until we can be sure apple will accept it.
