Hey guys,
My game just launched. It's an RTS called Quantum Collapse. It really blows every other RTS away and was coded with cocos2d and the help of many of you guys.

bought it, seems good. only got past the 1st level. looking forward to updates & new multitouch innovations.
Also here's something that would greatly improve the ability to get more ui controls happening.. make a button on the lower right when if pressed, it zooms around the map based on accelerometer positioning for the direction vector, with some sort of exponential dampening.

Well i'm quite dissapointed with iPhone development.
Quantum Collapse is the best RTS out there, has great reviews, 4 1/2 itunes rating and it's not selling well at all.
I discourage anyone trying to come into the scene, it's been taken over by the big corporations and independent developers are history.

Im reminded of the story of iShoot which launched an untold number of developers wet dreams. Released iShoot - nobody bought it. Released free version - $0.5MM in one month.
I buy *tons* of $1 games from unknown developers, just on the basis of a cool screenshot, or an interesting description. $4? Not-so-much.
The gameplay video looks terrific. Create a lite version. Invest in some advertising (or put swap ads in your free version). Its only been a few days right? And you know what - even if you do everything right - there is still no guarantee. The store is real crowded for sure.

You know what big mistake I think you made? The name "Quantum Collapse" and its icon. Anything with "Collapse" in the name means its a match-3 puzzle game to me. Google for "collapse game" and you get tons of match 3 puzzlers:

The name "Quantum Collapse" sounds generic and certainly doesnt tell me its an RTS.
The icon is also very generic and tells me nothing about what kind of game it is. Look at the icons in the "Top Paid Apps" list. If its too late to change the game's name, get an artist to make an icon which helps sell the game as a strong RTS.

If I was scrolling through the app store - with all the apps competing for my attention - I would never of clicked on "Quantum Collapse".

I think you have a point there Codemattic..
People browsing the store will look into the icon and the name... if it's of any interest, they keep on to see the screenshots. Only then they read the description.. At least it's like that for everyone I've seen using the iphone.
We only have like 2~3 seconds to lure them into buying our game.. Every detail counts!
You make a valid point in choosing a suggestive title and icon.
Some things are best left to professional artists, time to cut out a budget and shell out some dough, if only I had any...

Some guys are willing to work in exchange for a % of the final profit. It's always a possibility.
It looks amazing. I have the same feeling about the app store with my game Moonlights. Good reviews, but no sales. Too many games on the app store.
Almost all "new and noteworthy" entries are from big compagnies now. There will be very few indie successful games from now.

JPS, Moonlights is a good game (I gave it a good review too) - Im sorry to hear its not selling. This doesnt bode well. I like the flash games on your site too!

I don't know what you guys call "big" but in the Australian top 10 we have Flight Control, StoneLoops, The Moron Test, Stick Wars and Doodle Jump - all developed by what I'd call small or independent developers. So 50% of the top 10 are small/indie releases - pretty good in my opinion. If you think this market is tough for small guys try selling Java ME games.

In the US Store "Quantum Collapse" is listed in "Staff Favorites"!

Yeah codematic that's your little contribution right there :D i changed the name right after you posted it.
Sales are alright. But it's nothing great.
They went up from 15 a day to around 70 a day.
If only apple would hurry up to accept the lite version and my 1.1 update. I could really use the momentum.

congratulations Carpy, thats terrific. Its too bad so much depends on Apple featuring developers, but they have pretty good taste :) QC, Moonlights, some others... To be sure Ive seen some great games that havent been recognized, so its a shame that sales arent spread out more, but thats the nature of this market.
