I installed 99.5-rc0 today but I'm surprised at the differences. An app built with 99.4 doesn't compile for many reasons, eg no CCLabel, CCQuadParticleSystem, ... and I don't see these mentioned at all in the release notes amongst differences. Always possible to miss something. Is it premature to be using 99.5? Or where can I find a full list of differences.

Everything you mentioned is in there. It is not premature to be using 99.5, especially if you want to support retina displays. Those API differences you mentioned aren't going to go away.
