I'd love to give it a go, although here in netherlands it would run between 2AM and 3PM.

I have an idea that I think I can implement in the 4 or so hours I plan to spend. Nothing amazing, but fits the theme and should be simple yet fun. If anybody wants to join my team, PM me and I can fill you in. You can decide if you want to participate.

I probably spent 2 hours on graphics stuff (not that it looks like it) because I'm not good with graphics or gimp. Before heading to bed (I'm at my real job now), I spent a while trying to figure out how to get the color or alpha of the pixel at the touch point. I read posts on here but didn't understand enough to make it happen at 3AM.
The reason I need to find the pixel value at the touch point is the "world" image is a fullscreen image that is a zOrder higher than color squares. The ocean on the world image is blue which covers the color squares behind and the continents are transparent part of world image. The color squares are just a 1px white image that I scale at creation time and then change the color during gametime. What I wanted to do was detect which squares were untouchable due to being behind the blue and eliminate them from the equation. If anyone can shed some light on getting the pixel value at a point on an image, I would be grateful as I hate leaving things incomplete. I can't do anything now anyway, but it would be fix it up later.
This was totally from scratch with no prior code or ideas used - and I haven't been actively coding for about 6 months. That's the power of cocos2d. I used version 0.99.5. I can post the source code if anyone wants it. This was a fun exercise. I wanted to do it so people would realize cocos2d is a great game engine.

Earliest I can do is December, though we should probably allow plenty of time rather than rush it and have it flop.
Not sure how far off version 1.0 we are but it'd be a good way to celebrate and promote at the same time :D

I can't believe I missed this! What a cool idea. I'd totally be game for the next one, especially if it's specific to the Cocos2d community. Let me know if something like this ends up happening. I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.
