			<description><p>I also admit that Codemattic's posts about this has affected my decision making. :-) I submitted my first app a few days ago as iPhone and iTouch (all models) knowing that it will prob. get 15 fps, maybe less, in some use cases. If anyone complains, I can tell them the tale of Codemattic (although I know your argument wasn't that people should release for all models without performance testing, hehe)! :-) I know I should have tested on a 1st gen, but I simply don't have one/know anyone who does at the moment/want to provision another device right now...

<p>Yes, I do complain - but heres the thing about the 1st Gen iPod Touch.  Its the same processor and speed as the iPhone (except the 3gs).  Its slower - but I dont know by how much - Id love to see speed tests.  The 1st Gen iPod Touch runs games like Doom and Star Wars and Prey and Assasins Creed and iDracula and Circuit.Strike.One and lots of driving games, etc...  games that are throwing a ton of polygons around, physics, collision detection, etc...  So when I see somebody's breakout game or cave flyer game lock out the 1st Gen iPod Touch, and the dev worries that it will run too slowly - either theyre doing something wrong or worrying needlessly.  That said, I dont know how much of the audience still has the 1st Gen iPod Touch, 10%?  Still why leave an extra 10% on the table.</p>
<p>Incidently jptsetung locked out the 1st Gen iPod Touch for his first version of Moonlights - he sent me a copy, I told him it worked fine, and he changed the system requirements *and* look at the terrific success of Moonlights.  Coincidence?  Well yes probably, still it added something to the sales numbers!

			<description><p>Hey, although it's directed at Codemattic I'll take the liberty of answering ;)<br />
To get a beta running on other people's devices, you'll need to get their UDID, add the device in the program portal, and create an adhoc certificate with all the devices that you want to run the app on.<br />
You'll also need to create a "dist.plist" file and change one of the parameters.<br />
Here's a rough guide I found just now, google around for better ones if this one isn't too clear:<br />

<p>You then need to compile with the adhoc certificate, triple-check that it's correctly selected in the "target info" and the "project settings" build settings.<br />
I found the whole procedure a bit tricky but eventually got it working.</p>
<p>I also have a 1st gen iPod touch, in case you want some testing done.<br />

<p>I saw you often complain about games not supporting iPod 1st gen. As I saw people are mainly afraid of speed issues with 1st gen devices, so am I. I don't have 1st gen device also, so I would like to send you beta versions if you're interested in testing, so we can both decide if it suits 1st gen devices.</p>
<p>Though, I don't know how to compile it so anybody else can test it. Suppose it's AdHoc distribution but I am not sure. If you're interested and if you have some instructions for compilation please let me know.</p>
