@Scryb

man hahah you made me laugh a lot with these:
>Chevrolet Camaro – Horse Eater
>Ford Mustang – Horse

well, my solution was to not use names at all, I didnt want to use fake names... after all it didnt turn out bad the cars without names..

but either way, it wont affect the game that much !

anyway, thanks a lot guys !, I will make a special post here when I release the game, its pretty close to be done!

Use an anagram generator for the car names. Then on your website, that markets/supports the game, promote those anagrams with surveys asking people what they think each one is. The survey results will show people what they really are, without you having done it. Legally sound-ish.

Thought this might be a handy reference - the car designs and names from Grand Theft Auto 1:

http://gta.wikia.com/Vehicles_in_GTA_1

In particular, the car names were pretty different but you could kinda of tell what they were going for...

If they want to go after you, they can go after you for having the likeness of their designs (but yours are obviously far too simplified to count for that) or for using the trademarks or names that are "confusingly similar" to the trademarks. What makes it confusingly similar? Either you trust them or let them take you to court and see what the court says after the big car maker throws a few hundred thousand dollars at their lawyers.

My advice? Name them completely different things. But you could make jokes about it, like this:

Chevrolet Camaro – Horse Eater
Ford Mustang – Horse
Dodge Challenger – Duck Adversary
Chevrolet Corvette – Destroyer
Porsche 911 – SOS
Nissan GTR – Sushi
Lamborghini Gallardo – The Bull
Audi R8 – The German
Ferrari 458 – The Little Italian
Lamborghini Murcielago – The Bat
Ferrari Enzo – The Big Italian
Bugatti Veyron – Pierre

This is my opinion, just use the car real names, & don't worry about that. If Apple don't reject them, no reason not to use them.

- If you app/game never be top, no need to worry, no one really care about the app has 1 or 2 buy/day.
- If you app/game be famous for some reasons (because the famous names are searchable - if you need leverages to be top, that is what you need), you could release an update 1 or 2 weeks later. Once it's on top, it will remain top.

This is what I have learnt for years by monitoring the Appstore apps, if your app/game is top 10,000 , you can use anything in that game, from MJ music to rip off arts, no one really care about that, they only care about top apps.

Note: I even saw one loser grap the whole shared source code/arts from one person in this forum, submit to Appstore with same name (with one more word behind the name) & use the same App icon. Even in description he wrote, thanks to .... for the source code (he public that as well, nothing to hide).
What happened to him & that app? nothing, it got approved & released.

its a top view game, it is not 100% clear what car they are, you cant see any brand logo or anything, but if you know the cars and take a close look you can name their models:

for exemple this is how to the audi r8 and camaro look like:

Would I get in trouble for those looks ?

I'm not even sure if you are allowed to use the designs of the cars even if you give them names that have no resemblence to the originals.
I know of audio software that is used to emulate real guitar amps but obvioulsy the manufacturers of the real amps won't allow the use of their brands. What they did was use made up names like "lead 800" for "marshall jcm 800" or "gratifier" for "mesa boogie dual rectifier" (or tripple, don't know). This is probably something you can get away with, since they can't be sued for how they sound. But if you give your cars fantasy names and still rip off the designs, I wouldn't be surprised if you get sued.
Why don't you go with new car designs that an artist invents for your game?

I am making a game that have the following cars:

Chevrolet Camaro
Ford Mustang
Dodge Challenger
Chevrolet Corvette
Porsche 911
Nissan GTR
Lamborghini Gallardo
Audi R8
Ferrari 458
Lamborghini Murcielago
Ferrari Enzo
Bugatti Veyron

I have 2 questions:

      1) Can I use their real brand/model names in my game ?

      2) Assuming question one returns false: could I use something like "Camaro" instead of "Chevrolet Camaro" or "911" instead of "Porsche 911", (just use the model name and not the brand) ?
